Join the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington Shakespeare Company, and The George Washington University, for the second annual festival of staged readings highlighting plays and poetry by historic and contemporary women. Featuring the talents of area directors and actors, the 2009-2010 festival explores dramatic works by women of the English stage from the late-seventeenth and early-eighteenth centuries, as well as an evening of poetry and dance. The festival opens with Aphra Behn's The Rover (1677), which follows the antics of a group of cavaliers who pursue their desires at carnival in Naples. The reading features additional material by Julianna Avery and an all-woman cast. Directed by Catherine Aselford. Tickets are pay-what-you-can at the door or $10 if purchased in advance. Purchase advanced tickets at www.boxofficetickets.com/wsc or 1-800-494-TIXS (8497).
