ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE:
Anne Akiko Meyers is one of the world’s premier concert violinists and a top-selling recording artist. She regularly performs as featured soloist with orchestras around the world and on radio and television, including two appearances on The Tonight Show.
This season, Meyers premieres the Mason Bates violin concerto, a piece she commissioned, with Leonard Slatkin and the Pittsburgh Symphony and Giancarlo Guerrero and the Nashville Symphony. In February 2012, Meyers’ newest recording, Air—The Bach Album, debuted at #1 on Billboard charts.
Wendy Chen has dazzled audiences with “stamina, chops, brilliance and sensitivity—a formidable combination” (Boston Globe). She has garnered critical acclaim for her engagements with leading orchestras and concert halls worldwide. Chen has also appeared in unique programs, featuring music legends Art Garfunkel and James Taylor, as well as in a private concert for the U.S. Supreme Court Justices.
