Library Fellows’ Award
Please note: THE LIBRARY FELLOWS ARTIST’S BOOK AWARD IS TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
2012 LIBRARY FELLOWS’ AWARD WINNER:
The winner of the 2012 Library Fellows Competition is Day By Day, created by two Russian artists Natasha Guruleva and Olga Nenazhivina. It is a series of meditations, in verse and artwork, on everyday life and the world that we inhabit with other creatures.
Day By Day has compressed moments that speak of connections, relationships, and unity of creation. Each copy contains 20 spreads with verse by Guruleva and art by Nenazhivina. Several poems are handwritten and inserted in envelopes. Narrow belts of leather lock them together. The diaristic format conveys intimacy and directness, illustrating the creative process with plain, clean canvas and hand-inscribed poetry.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Both artists were born in Russia and currently live and work in New York. Natasha Guruleva’s works have been exhibited nationally and internationally, and are included in many collections. Her portfolio includes books of fairytales and poetry, songs, photography, independent films, costumes, and fabric sculpture. Olga Nenazhivina is a recipient of the Plano Art Association’s National Juried Exhibition award. Her works have also been exhibited nationally and internationally.
Day By Day is available for purchase in the Museum Shop, along with many of the past winners. Visitors may request to see a sample of all Library Fellow award-winning artists’ books that are still available.
