WASHINGTON, D.C. - Diane Casey-Landry, President and CEO of America’s Community Bankers, a Washington D.C.- based trade association, has been chosen to receive the 2006 Enterprising Woman of Washington Award by the Business and Professional Women’s Council of the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

Casey-Landry will receive the prestigious award at a ceremony at the museum on Feb. 15, 2006.

Over the years, the BPWC has contributed its energy, talent and resources to further the National Museum of Women in the Arts mission to recognize and celebrate the achievements of women artists through groundbreaking exhibitions, innovative educational programs, and pioneering scholarships. This unique event furthers that mission by highlighting entrepreneurship as an important aspect of women’s culture. The Enterprising Woman of Washington Award is given to a local businesswoman of influence who is shaping the future of her professional field.

In 2004, the BPWC presented the first Enterprising Woman of Washington Award to Catherine Hughes, chairwoman and founder of Radio One.

Casey-Landry has been chosen to celebrate her professional and entrepreneurial achievements in the financial services arena and to recognize her impact within the greater metropolitan Washington D.C. area as well as throughout communities nationwide, according to Angela Brock, chairwoman of the BPWC Steering Committee for the Enterprising Woman Award.

America’s Community Bankers represents more than 1250 community bank members across the country with aggregate assets of $1.5 trillion that promote home ownership, small business opportunities, and entrepreneurship and growth in their communities.

Since joining ACB in January 2000, Ms. Casey-Landry has focused on enhancing staff expertise, providing strong advocacy, excellent educational programs, and developing new products and services, such as America’s Community Bankers NASDAQ Index, the unique community bank stock index.

Prior to joining ACB, Casey-Landry was a principal and national director of Financial Services for Grant Thornton LLP where she was the chairman of the firm's National Financial Services Committee and oversaw the firm's financial services practice.

Recently, Casey-Landry was named one of the “Most Powerful Women in Washington” by U.S. Banker magazine. Casey-Landry is a past president of Women in Housing and Finance. With more than over 600 women and men as members, WHF is the leading organization in promoting the professional development of women in fields of housing and finance. In October 2004, she received the WHF Industry Leader award.

Casey-Landry was graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, with an A.B. in economics and political science. She was awarded a master of public administration degree from The George Washington University.
