PIANIST SARA DANESHPOUR IN RECITAL
AT THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF WOMEN IN THE ARTS
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 22 AT 7:30 P.M.

Washington, D.C.—The Shenson Chamber Music Concert Series at the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) presents pianist Sara Daneshpour in recital on Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. This free concert will be held in the museum’s performance hall, 1250 New York Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C.

Daneshpour will perform pieces by Beethoven, Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff and Liszt. In addition, she will play selections from contemporary composer Richard Danielpour’s The Enchanted Garden.

Currently studying piano with Leon Fleisher at the Curtis Institute of Music, Daneshpour has performed in Washington, D.C., New York, Germany and Russia. Celebrated for her phenomenal talent, she has won several local, national and international piano concertos, including the Russian-American Music Association Competition and the Beethoven Society of America Piano Competition. Additionally, she participated in the Smithsonian’s 300 year anniversary of the piano celebration, along with Billy Joel and seven other pianists.

About the National Museum of Women in the Arts
The National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA), founded in 1981 and opened in 1987, is the only museum dedicated solely to celebrating the achievements of women in the visual, performing and literary arts. The museum’s permanent collection features 3,000 works from the 16th century to the present created by more than 800 artists; including Mary Cassatt, Georgia O’Keeffe, Frida Kahlo, Lee Krasner and Louise Bourgeois, along with special collections of 18th-century silver tableware and botanical prints. The museum also conducts multidisciplinary programs for diverse audiences and maintains a Library and Research Center which is accessible to the public. NMWA is located at 1250 New York Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C., in a landmark building near the White House.
