Summer Calendar of Events at NMWA

WASHINGTON—The National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) is pleased to present from June–August a wide range of exhibitions and programs, including a lunchtime gallery talk related to the spotlight exhibition Meret Oppenheim: Tender Friendships and gallery talk conversations around select works in the exhibition Total Art: Contemporary Video

The first Sunday of every month is a Community Day at NMWA, with free admission to the public. The information below is current as of April 2014. To find out more about programs at NMWA, visit the online calendar.

SPECIAL EVENT:

NMWA Nights: Total Art
Friday, June 6, 5:30–7:30 p.m.

Price: $10 for nonmembers; free for members
Join NMWA’s Young pARTners Circle for a happy hour celebrating the opening of Total Art: Contemporary Video. Enjoy tours of the newly-installed exhibition, drinks, bar snacks and exhibition-themed activities.

Looking for some artistic and intellectual nourishment during your lunch break? Visit NMWA on Wednesdays for short gallery talks to explore NMWA’s exhibitions and collection with museum staff.

Gallery Talk Series: Total Art Conversation Pieces
Wednesdays, June 25–July 9, July 23–August 13, August 27–October 8, 12–12:30 p.m.
Price: Free. No reservations required. Meet at Information Desk.
Video art captures viewers’ attention in ways other mediums cannot. Immersive installations engage multiple senses, requiring time to view and appreciate. During each “Conversation Piece,” view selected videos featured in the exhibition Total Art: Contemporary Video, then join NMWA staff in a conversation about what you saw, heard, felt and thought.
