How long after my enrollment will it take for my membership to be activated?
Generally, a new membership requires four to six weeks for processing from the time we receive your enrollment. You will receive a mailed welcome including a letter of thanks and your membership card. Gifts and benefits associated with your membership may be mailed separately. Your first issue of our quarterly Women in the Arts magazine will arrive approximately one month later.

What does my member card entitle me to?
Your member card gives you access to all of the exclusive benefits of NMWA membership! Carry your card with you when you visit the museum to receive free admission and discounts in the shop and café, or use your nine-digit membership number to receive 10% off all online purchases at www.nmwa.org.

I've lost my member card. How do I get a replacement?
Don't miss out on your member benefits because of a lost card! Send us an e-mail or call our offices toll free and we will send you a replacement within two to three weeks.

How do I change my name or address information?
Simply send us an e-mail including both your old and new addresses or call our offices and we will be glad to update our files. Address changes require approximately three to five weeks to take effect.

How can I make sure I am not missing member events or mailings?
Be the first to know about members' activities and events with our e-mail updates! These updates include NMWA's monthly online newsletter, but if you have signed up for the newsletter on our homepage, you may not yet be registered to receive exclusive e-mails for members. To sign up, send us an e-mail including your name, address, membership number, and e-mail address. In addition, be sure to check the "Membership News" column in each issue of Women in the Arts for upcoming activities, and watch your mailbox for mailed tickets or postcard invitations to member previews and special events.

How do I renew my membership?
Renewing is fast and easy. When it is nearing time for you to renew your membership, we will send you a renewal reminder that you can return by mail with your check or credit card information. Or, you can call our offices or renew online using the nine-digit membership number listed on your member card. My Account feature. Please make sure you use your nine-digit membership number listed on your membership card.

Why am I having problems with the My Account feature when I try to renew?
Please make sure you are using your nine-digit membership number off of your membership card. Do not leave off the leading zeros in your membership number. If this does not solve your problem please send us an e-mail including your name, address, membership number, and nature of the problem. Responses are generally within 24 hours during the business week.

I've received an additional renewal reminder after mailing in my dues - why?
In order to keep overhead costs to a minimum and ensure that the highest possible amount of your contribution goes toward museum programming, renewal reminders are mailed third-class. Occasionally, a payment may cross in processing with a mailed reminder. If this happens, please disregard the notice and know that your renewal will be handled correctly.

Can I give a membership as a gift?
NMWA memberships make wonderful birthday, graduation, and holiday gifts, and are available at all membership levels. Gift recipients receive all the benefits of membership, as well as a personalized note informing them of your kind gift. To purchase a gift membership with a credit card, simply call our offices or give a gift membership online. If you prefer to pay by check, please send your payment to our mailing address and be sure to include a note listing your name and address as well as the name and address of the gift recipient. Gift memberships take four to six weeks to process. If your gift is time sensitive please call Member Services toll-free at 866-875-4627 so we can accommodate your request.

Is any portion of my membership tax-deductible?
Yes. NMWA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and, depending on your membership level and whether you have chosen to receive the associated benefits, a large portion of your membership may be tax-deductible. Tax-deductible amounts for new memberships are listed online on the pages describing the benefits of each membership level. To find out the exact tax-deductibility of your membership, please send us an e-mail or call our offices.

Does my NMWA membership give me access to any other museums?
Members belonging at the Friend ($100) level and higher can take advantage of the North American Reciprocal Membership program, which includes more than 200 museums across the U.S., Canada, and Bermuda. These members receive free or reduced admission at each of the participating museums, as well as member discounts on museum shop purchases and concert and lecture tickets. To view the full list of participating museums, click here.

I would like to move to a higher membership level, but it is not yet time for me to renew. Can I upgrade my membership?
Certainly. To upgrade your membership and take advantage of increased member benefits, please call our offices toll free at the number listed above.

My employer matches gifts to charitable organizations like NMWA. How do I participate?
This is a wonderful way to increase the impact of your contribution at no additional cost! Simply ask for your company's matching gift form from your human resources department, and include it any time you send a contribution to the museum. For a list of companies that have matched gifts to NMWA in the past, click here.

I'd prefer that NMWA not share my name with other organizations. How do I ensure this?
NMWA does occasionally exchange mailing lists with other carefully selected groups. If you do not wish to be included in these exchanges, please write to us at the address listed above or send us an e-mail. NMWA does not exchange e-mail addresses.

I am interested in giving an Annual Fund, Endowment, honorary, or general contribution to NMWA, or in finding out about named giving or arranging a bequest. How do I do this?
To make a non-membership gift to the museum or to learn about additional giving opportunities, please contact the museum's Development Department at 202-783-7992.
