WASHINGTON—This fall, the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) is pleased to partner with the Women’s Voices Theater Festival, which features new work by female playwrights and highlights the scope of plays being written by women today. More than 50 theaters throughout the Washington, D.C., region will participate in the festival.
These theaters will each present a world-premiere production of a work by one or more female playwrights, demonstrating the range of professional theater being produced in and around the nation’s capital.
“As a champion of women in the arts, the Women’s Museum is especially excited to participate as the host venue for the Festival’s opening event and as a premiere stage for new works by women playwrights,” said NMWA Director Susan Fisher Sterling. “Gender parity is an issue across all the arts. Through projects like this festival, we are strengthening the support for talented women writing for theater by giving them the platform they deserve.”
