Featured Sponsor Story: Walmart

In 2010, Walmart became a sponsor for Loïs Mailou Jones: A Life in Vibrant Color, highlighting its deep commitment to the arts and to the communities that it serves.

As the first major retrospective of this important artist, who spent much of her life in the Washington, D.C., area teaching at Howard University, the exhibition introduced many new visitors to Loїs Mailou Jones’s body of work and expanded awareness.

In conjunction with the exhibition, the museum organized a broad assortment of education programs and materials including lectures, free community days, and teacher, teen, and family workshops.

NMWA recognized Walmart’s major contribution with corporate logo and name placement within the galleries, as well as on all related press and education materials and advertisements.
