Limits to Your Privacy

Our site may contain links to other websites. NMWA wants you to be aware that when you click on links and/or ad banners that take you to third-party websites, you will be subject to the third parties’ privacy policies, not ours. While we support the protection of privacy on the internet, we are not responsible for the actions and privacy policies of third parties and other websites. This privacy policy does not extend to any information that is inherent in the operation of the internet, and therefore beyond the control of NMWA, and is not to be applied in any manner contrary to applicable law or governmental regulation.

NMWA and its affiliates may disclose your personally identifiable information if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary or desirable to (1) conform to the requirements of the law or comply with governmental orders, court orders, or legal process served on NMWA, or its affiliates; (2) protect and defend the property or rights of NMWA, and its affiliates or the users of NMWA; (3) to investigate or prosecute any misuse of the NMWA site, or information contained on, or obtained through the site.

Your Security

NMWA takes precautions to protect your personal information. When our registration/order form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number), that information is encrypted and is protected with encryption software. Only the last four digits of your credit card are stored on the museum server, for reference only.

While we make reasonable efforts to safeguard your personal information once we receive it, no transmission of data over the internet or any other public network can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or information we transmit to you from our online products or services, and you do so at your own risk.

Other Rights

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), effective May 25, 2018, updates existing European laws to strengthen the protection of “personal data” (any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person, so-called “data subjects”). NMWA has taken steps to ensure that our data collection and retention practices are compliant with the new law.

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), NMWA acknowledges that the GDPR entitles you to the right, at any time, to access personal data that the museum holds about you; to request that we stop using or disclosing your personal data; to request that we update, amend, or delete your personal data; and to withdraw any previously given consent with regard to your personal data. You may make such requests by using the contact information below.

In the unlikely event of a data breach, NMWA will comply with the requirements to notify affected persons. NMWA has also made a good faith effort to ensure that the museum works with vendors who are also compliant with the law.

If you have questions, or you are an EEA resident and would like to access your personal information, please email us at webmaster@nmwa.org.
