Close Encounters: Angelica Kauffman and Sonya Clark

While our building is currently closed for renovation, NMWA continues to offer dynamic programs to keep you connected to the museum and our collection. This fall join Deborah Gaston, NMWA’s director of education and interpretation, for four talks that ask, “What questions, conversations, and viewpoints surface when the art historical past meets the present?”

This week’s talk considers some of the ways that artworks explore family in connection with power structures and social values. We will examine Angelica Kauffman, The Family of the Earl Gower (1772) and Sonya Clark, Hair Wreath (2002).
