FEB 02 Firsthand Experience: Sewing Machine 101
Itching to stitch, but don’t know how to use a sewing machine? This workshop is for you!
During this workshop, D.C. Public Library Fab Lab workshop instructor Molly Stratton guides participants through the basics of using a sewing machine at “Sewing Machine 101.”
Inspired by special exhibition Rodarte, and created for absolute beginners, this class will teach you how to thread the machine, wind a bobbin, and sew a straight line. Materials, instruction, and inspiration will be provided.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION:
Through a selection of looks from pivotal collections, accessories, and videos, this exhibition offers an overview of the first thirteen years of the work of sisters Kate Mulleavy and Laura Mulleavy—the duo behind the innovative American fashion label Rodarte—through the lens of contemporary art and fashion.
The Fabrication Lab (the “Fab Lab”) at D.C. Public Library offers programs for all ages in emerging and computer-assisted technologies, along with “maker” tools old and new.
