FRESH TALK FORUM: El Tendedero/the Clothesline Project
Join us for the inaugural FRESH TALK Forum with artist Mónica Mayer
Fresh Talk Forums reach beyond the museum’s walls with interactive art projects and community collaborations. This inaugural Fresh Talk Forum with Mexico City-based artist Mónica Mayer focuses on the ways art can create awareness and inspire community-based advocacy directed at reducing violence against women—from sexual harassment to domestic violence.
This fall, Mayer brings El Tendedero/the Clothesline Project to Washington, D.C., working with local artists, activists, and organizations in the capital to raise awareness about domestic violence. Their work culminates with this Fresh Talk, featuring Mayer in conversation with project participants. A special project installation will be on view in the Long Gallery from November 10, 2017–January 5, 2018.
Followed by Sunday Supper, a communal meal served family-style.
Required. $25 general admission; $20 members, seniors, students. Price includes museum admission and Sunday Supper. Exhibition galleries will be open to attendees before the program. The program will also be livestreamed at nmwa.org/freshtalk4change.
Please note this event has passed.
FRESH TALK is presented by the museum’s Women, Arts, and Social Change public program initiative.
