Join us for a first-look at NMWA’s compelling new exhibition!

Celebrate the opening of She Who Tells a Story: Women Photographers from Iran and the Arab World. The exhibition addresses themes of identity, war, occupation, and protest. More than 70 works range in genre from portraiture to documentary to staged narratives.

Enjoy a first-look at the exhibition, behind-the-scenes spotlight tours, light refreshments, and a cash bar. Each ticket comes with two complimentary drink vouchers.

In Arabic, the word rawiya means “she who tells a story.” The idea of a woman storyteller is a fitting premise for these photographs made by pioneering women with roots in Iran and the Arab world. More than 70 photographs probe ideas about personal identity and vital political issues—and invite viewers to confront their own preconceptions.
