Darling Frida –
Your letter was so
full of your lovely person-
ality that when I read
it, you seemed to walk
right into my room. I’m
so glad that both you
and the incredible Diego
are happier these days,
and I hope the
happiness grows stronger

every day.
As for me, I’m back
in my sweet apartment
in New York, enjoying
myself enormously. Because
I was away for such
a long time, I forfeited
my job (in advertising),
and aside from looking
for another one, I’ve
been filling my days
with pleasant social doings.
Like, for instance, running
over to the Modern Museum

once in a while – I liked
the Italian Exhibit, but
much prefer [illegible] contemporary
art, so I’m looking forward
to the arrival of Diego’s
latest work in the museum.
Incidentally, Frida dear,
I, Alberta, am not the
recently married gal. Natalie’s
the lucky one now in California.
I am still very much
unattached; therefore, if
you chance upon a nice
eligible Mexican for me, do
let me know, and I promise
to move right next door!

I recently had your
beautiful earrings converted
into clip form so that
I can wear them. They
are certainly the very
nicest I own. I’m
proud of my jewelry and
now my collection, such as
it is, is considerably enhanced.
Do let me hear from
you about your social life,
and when you’re going
to visit New York and me.
Love to you,
Alberta
