Event Description

Brews and Views with Celeste Beatty

Celeste Beatty, founder of the Harlem Brewing Company, hosts a monthly happy hour to highlight topics in beer making, the restaurant industry, art, politics, culture, and more. In this conversation, Beatty will be joined by Kendra Woods of Sylvia’s Restaurant and life and business coach Michelle Gomez. They will discuss the importance of entrepreneurship, small businesses, and shopping local.

Before the conversation, bartenders from Chocolate City’s Best will demonstrate how to make a signature cocktail, mocktail, and offer a beer pairing for the conversation.

Signature Cocktails

Equiano Cocktail: Crismus Breeze 

  • 1.5 oz Equiano dark rum
  • 0.5 oz St Elizabeth Allspice Dram
  • 0.5 oz Averna Amaro
  • 0.5 oz pineapple juice
  • 0.25 oz Crème de Banane
  • Grated nutmeg

The Big Apple

  • 2 oz Harlem Lager
  • 1 oz apple rosemary simple syrup
  • 0.5 oz lemon
  • 0.5 oz Aperol
  • 1 sprig rosemary for garnish
  • Cut lemon wheel for garnish

Apple Rosemary Simple Syrup Recipe

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 quartered red apples
  • 4 sprigs rosemary

In a medium pot, combine water and sugar on low heat and stir until transparent. Add apples and simmer over medium heat for 8–10 minutes. Return temperature to low and add rosemary. Let mixture simmer for about 5–7 minutes, then remove from heat ant let cool. Strain the syrup and keep refrigerated up to 2 weeks.
