Event Description
The Gift of Gossip in Contemporary Art
Calling all educators! Join us to learn about contemporary artists, artworks, and processes through Art21’s documentary films and NMWA’s collection.
Why do people gossip and gab? Both have long been regarded as frivolous conversation and stereotypically labeled the language of women. Join Art21 and the National Museum of Women in the Arts for a virtual workshop on the power of chatter in contemporary art. During this session, we will consider how the artists Lalla Essaydi, Guerrilla Girls, and Zanele Muholi reframe chitchat as radical information sharing, transformational personal exchange, and oral history.
