Event Description
About the Event
Join us for a special film screening of Fly With Me, a new documentary from PBS’s signature history series “American Experience.”
The film tells the story of the young women who became flight attendants during the 1960s, a time when they had very little agency. Becoming a “stewardess” offered great opportunities in adventure, travel, and careers. The film looks back to this era when flight attendants were often maligned as feminist sellouts yet were on the frontlines of the battle to assert gender equality and transform the workplace.
Following the screening, a panel discussion will feature Sarah Colt, the film’s writer and director; Ann Hood, author and former flight attendant with TWA; and Casey Grant, one of the first African American flight attendants with Delta Airlines. Cameo George, the Emmy Award-winning executive producer of “American Experience” will moderate.
