About the Event

Join us to discover the power of craftivism, the practice of using handmade crafts to inspire protest and social change. Draw inspiration from Routed West: Twentieth-Century African American Quilts in California and help create blankets for donation in partnership with Welcome Blanket, an organization that creates blankets for refugees and migrants as a gesture toward the country we wish to be. Welcome Blanket celebrates the idea that our diversity, multiple perspectives, and personal stories are woven into the fabric of what makes the United States great.

Make a quilt square for the blankets and watch members of the DC Modern Quilt Guild build a community quilt throughout the night. Enjoy a spotlight conversation with Cool Moms founder Elise Peterson and Well-Read Black Girl founder Glory Edim about how creativity can connect generations, honor those who came before us, and inspire new ways of creating change today. Les The DJ will provide a set of action-forward anthems to guide the night. 

Two drink tickets are included with admission; additional beverages and food are available for purchase.

All members can purchase tickets, even if the event is sold out; members at the Explorer level and above receive two free tickets to each NMWA Nights event.
