Brews and Views with Celeste Beatty

Celeste Beatty, founder of the Harlem Brewing Company, hosts a monthly happy hour to highlight topics in beer making, the restaurant industry, art, politics, culture, and more. Award-winning filmmaker, writer/director, and freelance journalist Nicole Franklin and NMWA’s Director of Retail Operations, Adriana Regalado, will join Beatty in conversation. They will discuss how art, businesses, and consumers create community.

Before the conversation, bartenders from Chocolate City’s Best will demonstrate how to make a signature cocktail, mocktail, and offer a beer pairing for the conversation.

Signature Cocktails

Harlem Brewery 1946 Lager Cocktail: “The Awakening” 

• 2 oz grapefruit juice
• 0.5 oz ginger syrup (slice ginger, 1-part water, 1-part organic cane sugar)
• 3-5 dashes of cardamom bitters
• Fill with Harlem Brewery 1946 Lager
• Garnish with candied ginger and mint

Low ABV Cocktail: “Tomorrow’s Serenity” 

• 1 oz spiced pear cordial
• 2 oz chai latte (premade or brew black tea with various spices such as ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, vanilla, and cloves)
• 0.5 oz vanilla oat milk
• Garnish with dehydrated apples and lavender

Mocktail: “Immunity” 

• Lemonade (fresh lemons, spring water, organic cane sugar)
• 1 oz guava nectar
• 0.5 strawberry syrup (blend strawberries, 1-part water, 1-part organic sugar, bring to boil and cool)
• Sprinkle in pink, edible glitter
• Garnish with a lemon wheel
