Event Description
About the Event
Celebrate Black History Month with an evening dedicated to creating powerful and impactful connections with We Met IRL. Find your people, learn about Black women artists through an interactive museum-wide bingo game, and honor culture through a hands-on mixed-media portraiture artmaking experience inspired by the exhibition Tawny Chatmon: Sanctuaries of Truth, Dissolution of Lies. We Met IRL founder Maxine Simone Williams will be in conversation with artist Tawny Chatmon to discuss the power of preserving community and culture through art. Additionally, there will be speed-friending opportunities as DJ Precious Layne creates the perfect backdrop for connection and celebration in the Great Hall.
Two drink tickets are included with admission; additional beverages and food are available for purchase.
All members can purchase tickets, even if the event is sold out; members at the Explorer level and above receive two free tickets to each NMWA Nights event.
Tickets go on sale on February 4 at 10 am.
