Frida my dear —

I found your beautiful wire
when Sol and I came back from a
vacation in Maine. And then I
talked to Nick and got a letter from
Paca Toor about you and my heart fell
away from me. Frida my darling, I
want you close to me. If you can
be moved, come to New York where we
can take care of you. In San Francisco
you will seem to me just as far
away and just as alone as you seem
to be in Mexico. I know that
it is not so — that you have your
family and your friends around

you. But always it seems to
me that you are alone — or surrounded
by helplessness.

I am very happy that Paca wrote
to me and I thank you both. I had
been thinking of you in Maine and
in my secret mind planning to get
to Mexico somehow this winter to
see you and maybe go somewhere
with you where you could rest.

But here, when you are well, it
will be even better. A friend of
Anita named Lola Mendez is now in
Mexico. She will come to see you, to
find out if perhaps you can be
moved, so she can fly to New York
with you in Sept. Will be you able
to send X-rays here — to Nick or to me
so that David can look at them &

Please ask Paca to write me
again, if she will, what the situation
is — if you can be moved and when.
And Frida dear, please tell me what you
are doing about money. I know you
cannot be able to write and must be
in pain. I hope that Paca can continue
to write me for you so I am not cut
off for news. In a few weeks we will
be moving out of this apartment and once
Sol is settled there I can be free to make
fresh plans.

In the meantime, be brave, Frida
and let me know truly what I can do
to make it easier for you.
