Event Description
Natural Bundle Dyeing with Maggie Pate
Create vibrant hues using kitchen scraps and floral waste. Together we’ll bundle dye fabric and thread using easily collected household supplies resulting in atmospheric prints! Dyed fabric and thread created during Maggie Pate’s session can be incorporated into bookmaking projects throughout camp.
Camp activities are largely designed to make use of materials and tools you might have at home, to encourage repurposing and seeing everyday objects in a new light.
OPTIONAL: US residents who register for this session can order a dyeing kit prepped by Maggie for $10 ($35+ value) through Friday, June 25. See the registration link for more information.
Session participants can request a professional development certificate of completion reflecting total earned participation hours.
Registrants receive a recommended supply list, applicable digital resources, and Zoom meeting link one week prior to each session.
About the Instructor
Maggie Pate is the designer and purveyor of Nåde, a natural dye studio. She began her career in fashion, modeling internationally, then retired to work for a label in New York City. Her work in textiles explores the synthesis of textures, repetition, and geometry. Recently, her focus has shifted to cultivating a studio that is 100% sustainable and eco-friendly through capturing color predominantly with food waste collected from local restaurants and farms.
