A horizontal canvas combines collaged paper, such as a scrap of a U.S. map, comic strip, and pictographs; cloth swatches; scrawled and dripped paint; and phrases like “It takes hard work to keep racism alive” and “Oh! Zone.” The work’s title appears in red paint right of center.
Join educators from the Baltimore Museum of Art and NMWA—and sometimes special guests—as they talk about art.

Event Description

America

What do you get when two art museums committed to celebrating women artists collaborate? BMA x NMWA! This monthly talk show puts women artists and their artworks in conversation with each other, across two museums. Join educators from the Baltimore Museum of Art and the National Museum of Women in the Arts this month as they consider America through the lens of works by Native American visual artists. We will discuss art by Jaune Quick-to-See Smith and welcome special guest Dare Turner, curator of the BMA’s Stripes and Stars: Reclaiming Lakota Independence.

BMA x NMWA: America will live stream Tuesday, December 8, at 12 p.m. EST. The live stream will be available on both the BMA and NMWA Facebook pages.
