Event Description

About the Event

Firsthand Experience workshops bring contemporary artists together with learners ages 13 and older for hands-on programs that combine making, conversations, and discovery.

In this session, learn about the history of pinhole cameras and how a contemporary artist uses this basic tool to make surreal and ethereal photographs. Join us to create your own lens-less camera, capture images, and develop your photographs.

About the Artist Instructor:

R.C. Barajas is surprised by most things. An artist and writer, she is a Californian by birth and a Virginian by transplant.

Barajas’ writings have appeared in the Washington Post and the Philadelphia Inquirer. Her fiction can be found in Cleaver Magazine, Fatal Flaw, Please See Me, Defenestration, and Roi Fainéant. She received an Honorable Mention in the July 2024 Not Quite Write flash fiction contest and is long-listed for the Bath Flash Fiction award.
