Event Description

Explore our newest exhibition through a hands-on art project.

During this virtual workshop, participants will design a flag inspired by the art of Sonya Clark (b. 1967). After an introduction to the artist and her flag-based works featured in the NMWA exhibition Sonya Clark: Tatter, Bristle, and Mend, makers will draw inspiration from Clark and their own lives to create an original work of art. Teaching artist Evie Tobias will guide learners through the project and share her own technique of paper collage on canvas, which can be adapted for the project using colorful magazine pages.

Registration is limited to 20 participants. This project was designed for makers ages 14 and up.

Prior to the program, registrants will receive a Zoom meeting link and an extended project description, including a list of the easy-to-find art supplies needed to complete the project.
