A sculpture hangs flat against the wall. It looks like a wide, stained glass window that can be lit from behind. There are two faces in profile in the center, positioned back-to-back, as if emerging from a line down the center of the piece. They are made out of black metal, as are several totem-like designs positioned in front of bright orange, blue-green, and yellow abstract shapes. The abstract shapes are made of fused glass.
Join us for a special members-only event in which artists discuss how the past, present, and future collide in their work.

Event Description

About the Event

Since 2020, our world has been transformed by a global pandemic, advocacy for social reform, and political division. How have these extraordinary times inspired artists? Works by the 28 artists featured in New Worlds: Women to Watch 2024 explore these ideas from perspectives that shift across geographies, cultural viewpoints, and time.

Once a month, leading up to and through the opening of the exhibition in April 2024, NMWA curators host a special members-only virtual event with a group of participating artists to discuss one of the themes of the exhibition. In February’s panel discussion, artists April Banks (representing Southern California), Mona Cliff (Greater Kansas City Area), Nicki Green (Northern California), and SHAN Wallace (the Mid-Atlantic region) describe how rethinking history and imagining the future shapes their work.
