Event Description

About the Event

Join a movement! Slow Art Day is an international event encouraging people of all ages to visit community art spaces, virtually or in person, and look at art slowly.

Participate in Slow Art Day 2023 to:

  • Distract yourself.
  • Feed your soul.
  • Spark your creativity.
  • Discover and connect with new artworks.
  • Name five women artists.
  • Learn about yourself, loved ones, and fellow participants.
  • Connect with other participants from around the world!

How It Works:

Slow Art Day invites you to invest time looking closely at a limited number of artworks. NMWA will help with this process by providing a small selection of art to consider along with slow looking prompts to help you get started. You are encouraged to examine at least five of these works of art for 10 minutes each. You can do this alone, or with loved ones, in the comfort of your home.

Check out the 2023 Slow Art Week selected artworks and download the slow looking instructions.

Then join the virtual conversation on Saturday, April 15, 2023, 1 p.m. (ET) to connect with other art lovers, discuss their experience of slow looking, and learn more about the selected artworks. A NMWA educator will facilitate this virtual conversation through Zoom.

Space is limited. Questions? Email education@nmwa.org.
