Event Description

The Tea: Ainae Nielsen

In this online series, women musicians perform original work via live-stream on the museum’s social media channels on the first Friday of the month. Each session includes a short interview, conducted over a cup of tea, which explores the artist’s creative process. The Tea proudly welcomes singer Ainae Nielsen this month, and will be live streaming on NMWA’s Facebook page and at nmwa.org/livestream.

Fusing her love for soulful R&B, hip hop and contemporary pop, Nielsen creates an enjoyable, inviting experience and gives room for women to express themselves authentically. Nielsen graced the stage as a contestant on the NBC singing competition The Voice, as a member of Kelly Clarkson’s team, and gained attention for her whimsical soprano voice. The vocalist and songwriter was raised in southeast Washington, D.C. She has performed at venues and stages including NBC’s The Voice, Twins Jazz, U Street Music Hall, Howard University Homecoming, various Sofar Sounds experiences and more.

The Tea is presented by the museum’s Women, Arts, and Social Change public program initiative.
