The next ABC Intensive will take place July 20-22, 2020.

To better serve the diverse needs and interests of ABC Institute alumni, NMWA offers biennial ABC Intensives in even years. Designed in collaboration with, and exclusively for, ABC alumni, each three-day intensive provides a deep dive into the ABC experience—either for a particular subsection of our alumni pool or into a particular topic or theme.

2020 ABC Intensive: Size Matters! honors teachers as creative beings while also exploring the role of scale in making and interpreting art. Participants investigate the decisions about scale that women artists have made—or been limited to by dint of their gender. Explore a range of artists’ books through close study of works in the museum’s collection as well as art-making and writing exercises. In-gallery discussions, individual quests, and group games inspired by Harvard Project Zero thinking routines will help clarify artists’ formal and conceptual choices and provide inspiration for personal projects.
