Melissa Etheridge to Receive NMWA Award for Excellence in the Performing Arts and Perform an Acoustic Set.

Legendary singer/songwriter Melissa Etheridge will receive NMWA’s Award for Excellence in the Performing Arts at this year’s event benefiting the Shenson Chamber Music Concerts.

Melissa Etheridge’s impressive contributions to American rock and roll have placed her among the musical greats celebrated in our upcoming exhibition, Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power, September 7, 2012 through January 6, 2013.

Etheridge remarked, “I am honored to receive this award from the National Museum of Women in the Arts. I have long admired their work and salute this museum for all it is doing to celebrate women artists, especially the women who challenged societal norms to pursue careers in the arts. These women inspire us all and I am proud to be among them.”

Only 300 tickets are available for this intimate evening in the museum’s Great Hall where Etheridge will perform an acoustic set.
